In Memory of Luis

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Luis. Luis was the patriarch of our bookmaker's operation. Luis purchased the bookbinding business he worked at for many years to make a better life for his family. Working side by side his son, and grandson, he continued making books up until a few weeks before he passed. Anyone who has purchased a book from me in the last five years since I started this business has a journal sewn by this man. Sewn using a peddle, and his own bare hands to feed the onion skin paper signatures through an old machine. Nothing about Luis was modern. Luis was handsome, sharp, kind and most importantly a  man of old-school integrity.  He even did the all the books for the business with pen and paper up until he passed. Whenever I would go down to their bindery, Luis would be sitting there, sewing our books on this turn-of-the-century Smyth-Sewing Machine, and then he would sit with us and have a cuban coffee and some pastries. There was no rush, just him being present. You could tell he loved working with his family above all, and that his good attitude and work ethic, were what kept him healthy and active until such a beautiful old age. He got to meet his great grand son during this last year. Please send love and prayers to our bookbinding family as they navigate the grief of losing their patriarch.

IN LOVE AND GRATITUDE. Thank you Luis. They don't make men like you anymore, however, I see in your son and grandson the same kind-hearted qualities. And in them, you live on.
